Begun more than a year ago, this painting started in a vertical format. After multiple layers of marks and paint, scraped back, scratched, sanded and turned, it finally emerged as an abstract landscape. The feeling of not being rushed, keeping my focus on a sense of looseness and fluidity and letting the paint tell its story, led me to title the painting "When You're Perfectly Free".
