Poet Mary Oliver has inspired several themes in my paintings, including the acceptance of impermanence and imperfection in this one world. Nature witnesses the birth and decay of mountains, rivers and the ocean that is home to many living things. It is, as Oliver says, a difficult world, but one where her wish is to "to float a little" above it all, to be dazzled and to believe that "the light is everything". (from "The Ponds")
