This Pheasant Feather Humupapa was created using locally sourced pheasants, thoroughly cleaned, and specially selected for uniformity. The process of making humupapa consists of several steps from sourcing the feathers, cleaning, trimming, and sorting, to individually stitching each quill with four separate stiches. This process is done with patience and purpose and takes over 50-80 hours to create. This special art form is one that has been taught to me by my Kumu, Mele Kahalepuna Chun. She is a master feather artist in her own right and third generation feather artist. This piece when not worn should be stored in an air-tight Tupperware and kept in the freezer.  Keywords: Hawaiiana, hatband
Materials: Pheasant Feathers, black felt
