He explores the intersection of technology and religion, often using their contradictions as a source of humor and inspiration in his pieces, Artist Statement: This triptych is part of the Ligo series which explores the imagery of Ligo Sardines and other Filipino canned staple foods. The use of "Ligo" carries a playful double meaning, as it translates to "bathe" or "baptize" in Tagalog. Here, the marinated sardines and canned foods represent our society, submerged and overwhelmed, reflecting a diaspora scarred by social politics, religion, and propaganda that continue to damage or numb our collective consciousness. Through this piece, there is a call for protest against the ideologies that perpetuate these issues. It is a plea to rediscover hope, and perhaps faith, as we strive to build a better future.
