Large Milo Puahala me ka Po'i

This striking 'Umeke Puahala, a traditional Hawaiian bowl, is crafted of wood from the highly desirable Milo tree. The rich reddish-brown heartwood, with its deep, lustrous sheen, contrasts beautifully with the pale, creamy sapwood, creating a unique and natural, two-tone effect. The precious wood was saved from a storm-felled tree from Kahuku and given a new life. Turned on a lathe with exceptional skill, this 'umeke has been shaped into a rounded vessel with a large interior and a smooth, polished exterior. The po'i, or lid, also fashioned from the same Milo wood, fits seamlessly into place, its rounded edges providing a soft, organic feel.
