Kaiona's Embrace

I do not have a favorite beach, I have many! Some draw me back again and again. On Oahu, there is a little gem, a community beach park in Waimanalo named Kaiona ("attractive sea."). When you gaze 360 degrees from this location, a rich selection of subjects exists. A gentle surf hits the offshore coral reef and flows in over an ancient fish pond. The sandy shore is lined with swaying palms and basking canoes. Makapu'u beckons in one direction and Mount Olomana 180 degrees in the other. Sweeping panoramas of the majestic Koolau Range also await my brush. This day was especially gorgeous with a gentle breeze, aqua water, and a canoe taking a nap in the shade of a coconut palm.
