Hamakua Marsh

A plein air and studio oil painting of Hamakua Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, a wetland habitat for endemic and endangered waterbirds in Kailua. I painted multiple 8”X10” studies of different sections of the view over a period of months. On one particular gorgeous morning when I was there to compose and sketch out my canvas, a kingfisher landed on a branch in front of me and moments later two beautiful wild ducks strolled around me. What a precious moment to capture on canvas and in my heart! This painting was Juried into the 2023 Artist of Hawaii. KEYWORDS: Landscape, Oil, Painting, Nature, Water, Mountains
