This piece is inspired by the ever popular Haku lei booth at Punahou Carnival. An array of delicate flowers such as roses, orchids, chrysanthemums and hydrangeas are handmade from acrylic paint and assembled into a beautifully detailed floral lei po’o flowing down the side of a raw edge monkeypod slab sourced from local woodworkers. The simple, naturally shaped remnant of Hawaiian hardwood serves as warm and rich backdrop for this multi-textured, multi-sensory conversation piece.
